Transition Pastor - Job Description

1. Purpose & Accountability:
The Transition Pastor position is a position established by
recommendation of the Director of Leadership Development of the
BCMB Conference Executive. this position will be for a specified
period in agreement between the Transition Pastor and the Board
of Elders.
The Transition Pastor is accountable to God, and demonstrating
deep spiritual maturity, considerable ministry experience, and
proven biblical leadership skills, all consistent with the
Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith, will be trusted with
significant decision making, instructional, and disciplinary
authority for the purpose of guiding the church through a
journey of confession, healing, reconciliation, and restoration,
back to spiritual and relational health and fruitfulness.
2. Responsibilities:
a. Present biblical preaching and teaching with a significant
emphasis on confession, healing, reconciliation, and
restoration.
b. Instill and inspire hope in God's love, Christ's purposes,
and a restored, purposeful future for the church.
c. Conduct personal and group meetings for the purpose of
seeking confession, healing, reconciliation, and restoration.
d. Instruct and develop biblical best leadership practices
(Elder training process) within the Board of Elders.
e. Instruct the church in developing and practicing biblical
conflict resolution.
f. Prepare agendas, together with the Chairman of the Board of
Elders, for Board of Elders meetings and congregational
meetings.
g. Hold the Board of Elders and the church to a high level of
accountability and responsiveness in resolving personal,
interpersonal, congregational, and leadership conflict issues.
h. Assist the Board of Elders in developing selection and
evaluation protocols for Elders and Pastors.
3. Transition Pastor is a Member of:
The Transition Pastor is the lead member of the Board of Elders
and ex officio lead member of all ministry teams. He may choose
to defer the role of moderator of Board of Elders meetings and
congregational meetings to the Chairman of the Board of Elders.
