Al is a graduate of Prairie Bible College and he along with his wife, Marilyn, have served with
Northern Canada Evangelical Mission, in Cross-Cultural ministry, since 1980. In 1998, Al
was elected to serve as the western field director of NCEM, responsible for ministry,
administration and member care for the NCEM missionaries in AB, BC, YK, and NWT.
Although he continued to live in Fort St John, much of the time, his ministry involved
extensive travel. Prior to this appointment Al ministered in Telegraph Creek, BC until 1990
and Fort St John from 1990 to 1998, developing the Bread of Life soup kitchen, ministering
at the native church, leading Bible studies and traveling to the Halfway Reserve once a
week. Al’s term as Field Director finished in 2007. Since that time, he has been ministering,
full time, in the Fort St John area.
Al also developed Sunrise Radio, a nonprofit, Christian, community based 24 hour radio in
Fort St John, Dawson Creek, Prespatou and recently Telegraph Creek (he has been
involved in CIAM Radio since its beginning in 2001) with a burden and a vision to reach the
Northern communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ).
