Garret Friesen joined our team to oversee student ministries at our church. He provides leadership to our junior and senior youth programs.
Garret was born and raised in Grande Prairie County. He enjoys board games, video games, movies, writing, and spending time with friends. He and his wife, Jesse, are expecting their first child in late July 2025. Also, he really loves chocolate.
His journey into ministry began with his own experience of lukewarm faith during his high school years. He found himself coasting, unsure of his direction after graduation, especially in the midst of the pandemic. When he noticed that Peace River Bible Institute (PRBI) was still accepting applications, he decided to take a chance: “I’ve known about the school for a while,” he thought. “A year couldn’t hurt.”
That one year turned into two, then four, as God stirred a calling in his heart toward youth ministry. Through his studies, Garret found purpose and fulfillment. His passion grew to walk alongside teenagers who, like he once was, feel confused and overwhelmed by life’s challenges. He longs to point them to Jesus, something he would have wanted then.
In the summer of 2024, Garret was contacted by North Peace MB Church about a youth pastor position. Sensing God’s leading, he stepped into the role and is now excited to serve the students of this community.
