Rebecca joined us as the Director of Worship Ministry and is a wife, a mother, and a passionate follower of Jesus. She and her husband have been married for 12 years and have three crazy, amazing boys, along with a cat and two dogs. Originally from Washington State, she was "imported" to Canada by her husband and moved from Caronport, Saskatchewan to Fort St. John, BC in 2023. She loves food, tattoos, concerts, and a good bowl of pho.
Raised in the church, Rebecca was drawn early on to the redemptive story of Christ. That story continues to shape her, as she’s been radically changed by the gospel. Her teen years mirrored the story of the prodigal son, fighting sin, stumbling, getting back up, and running back to Jesus. At 16, she sensed the Lord calling her to serve the church, even while navigating some of the darkest seasons of her life. Those formative years revealed the power of grace and the mercy that leads us to repentance.
Music has always been central in Rebecca’s life. Her teenage years were spent around her youth and worship pastors, being discipled, volunteering, and discovering a deep love for the church and for worship. A phrase she held onto was, “God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called.” She also believes that God can and does call the qualified, those whom he’s shaped and refined for specific purposes.
Isaiah 6:8 has been a significant verse for her: “And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here I am. Send me.’” As her family prepared to move somewhere new, the Lord spent the year leading up to the transition working on her heart and redirecting her steps. The desire to serve the church never faded, though the way it would unfold began to shift.
Through God's providence, Rebecca stepped into this role. Though worship ministry has been a consistent thread in her life, she, like Moses, wrestles at times with healthy insecurities and feelings of inadequacy. Yet, she is reminded again and again that God asks for faithfulness. With gratitude for all God has done and is doing, she is committed to continuing to serve his Church, bless his name, and point others to his greatness.
